I have been remiss in posting blogs from the various weddings over the 2009/2010 wedding season as life became busier for me as I became a new mother. My daughter is the love of my life. The couples I have been working with over the year during my pregnancy and in the early stages of my daughter's life have been wonderful and truly understanding. Thank you to all my brides (and grooms).

Now that life has become a little more manageable, I have a lot of catching up to do in posting the various weddings. So stay tuned to the blog as entries will be made in the next little while.

Laura & Peter

Never before had I been booked to do a full-planning wedding without even meeting the bride and groom first. Laura & Peter had such busy schedules that we could not connect before Laura left for the States. Laura was about to release her book in the States and had to do book tours for most of the time leading up to the wedding. Thank goodness for email! I'm glad they trusted me to plan all the details of their wedding in 3 short months. The guests were a mix of Greeks and Texans...what a party!

Marika & Nick

I worked with Marika over 5 years ago and when she asked me to be her Day-Of Wedding Coordinator, of course I said yes. Marika is so easy going and I knew that it would be a stress-free wedding. She didn't have a bridal party and was not into the formalities of weddings...she wanted her family and friends around her to celebrate and as she put it, "rock on". She wanted a great party and that is definitely what she and Nick had.
They had their wedding at the Old Mill this Fall and the weather was perfect. Nick and Marika and their respective families seemed so relaxed. The party got into full swing once their band, Soular, started to play. And an added bonus, I was able to reconnect with some familiar faces. Thanks again Jim for the fabulous photos.

Noel & Neil

The long awaited wedding came and went! This was my first Indian/Canadian wedding and I had a great time getting to know the couple and the culture. I'd been working with the bride and groom for almost a year and a half on their wedding and it was a journey. I felt that I became more than just their wedding planner. I felt I became a friend, a confidante, and a guide...as Noel once joked, "Laura, can you plan our life."
Their wedding went off without a hitch...we were even ahead of schedule at times...I can't believe how smoothly things went, especially since it was a buffet dinner and I thought for certain I'd end up having to adjust the timing of things. But it all worked out beautifully.
Elaine did an amazing job on the flowers and Jim Kalianiotis was fantastic once again with the photography. I can't wait to post a couple of pictures so that you can see the wonderful work of some of the vendors I use.

This was an interesting cultural wedding. The couple had two ceremonies: first a catholic ceremony at a church and then a buddhist ceremony at the venue before dinner. This was my first buddhist ceremony and it was filled with the tradition of drummers and dancers. It really was something to experience.
Rizmina and Eshan were very easy to work with and although the planning started over a year prior to the wedding, the day was worth the wait. Everyone looked stunning - the bride was ravishing in her gown and the groom looked sharp in his white tuxedo. The decor of the room was striking with the chocolate brown linens and fuschia accents. Everyone took notice.

Danielle & Matt

What a charming wedding! Danielle and Matt are like two peas in a pod. I first met Danielle and her mother when Danielle was at home visiting with her family. She was living in the States with her fiance Matt, and at the time, her mother Linda was doing a lot of the planning here in Toronto.
This was an elegant wedding held at the Sunnybrook Estates...beautiful decor, first class service. My first time meeting Matt was at the rehearsal and by the time the wedding day came around, it was as if I had known the entire bridal party for months, instead of 2 short days.
I wish both Danielle and Matt every happiness in their life together in San Francisco.

Lainie & Brian

When I first met this couple, I recall them saying: "We want to have fun at our wedding" and boy did they ever. I'd have to say that the fun started at the rehearsal dinner. After surviving the cold, wet weather of the rehearsal, the party went into full swing at the rehearsal dinner and it never stopped.
Lainie and Brian's family and friends all smiled and had fun at their wedding. The ceremony and reception were held in Aurora at Di Nardo's. It was an extremely hot day, (finally a beautiful summer day without rain!) but Lainie & Brian and their guests got through the heat and enjoyed an outdoor ceremony followed by Jazz cocktails and an evening full of surprises.
I knew Lainie was into Karaoke, but I didn't know she was such a remarkable singer. She surprised Brian with a song that left a tear in everyone's eyes. It was fun planning their wedding and working with Lainie & Brian and their families. Thank you to Cathy Chatterton for providing the photos...it was a pleasure working with you...I hope we work together again soon.

Jennifer & Adam

I enjoyed every moment of Jennifer & Adam's wedding...their family and friends were warm and caring...it made it easy to work for such a great couple and their families. It was a beautiful mix of cultures: Jewish, Scottish and Indian. Jennifer and Adam were surrounded by people who loved and cared for them. Eventhough the rain came down during their wedding, the sky definitely parted and the sun shined on this beautiful couple. The wedding was at the Bayview Country Club and the party went on all evening to the sounds of an excellent band...George St. Kitts...you were amazing. Glad to have been able to work with you.
